\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 When Buddy came back the next morning<\/strong> we nervously waited for news. The Doctor walked in with a\"\" smile.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u201cShe\u2019s a little fighter<\/strong>,\u201d he said. \u201cShe\u2019d never be alive otherwise. She\u2019ll have to stay in the hospital. We\u2019ll keep a close eye on her until she gains some weight, but, I think she will be OK.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Tears filled my eyes<\/strong> and Buddy let out a sigh. Thank you, God.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0We named her Pamela Sue<\/strong>, but Buddy called her our little \u201cKitten.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I went home with empty arms,<\/strong> but our little girl already started to gain weight.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0How could I explain<\/strong> to her older sister, Lynn, why we were coming home without a baby? Lynn loved gorillas, so we stopped on the way home and bought her a giant toy gorilla. At home, after hugs & \"\"kisses, I opened the bag and handed her the toy gorilla. She looked confused. She grabbed my blouse and pulled it up in the air. She looked back at the gorilla and asked,<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0“You had a monkey?”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0When Sunday came,<\/strong> we kept our promise and went to church. At the end of the service, everyone sang, “They That Sow in Tears Shall Reap\"\" in Joy.” The pastor invited people to come forward and put their faith in Jesus.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I felt a strong pull on my heart to move forward<\/strong>, but I didn’t know what Buddy thought about my decision. Then he reached for my hand and said, “Come on, Angel Face, let’s go,” and nothing could hold us back.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Dusty went with a man,<\/strong> and I went with a woman to a private room in the back. They explained from the Bible how simple it was to get saved.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0We prayed this prayer,<\/strong> “God, I know that I’m a sinner, and the wages of sin are death-separation from God, in hell forever. I believe that Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose again on the third day to pay the penalty \"\"for my sins, past, present, and future. I know Jesus loves me so much that He died in my place. I’m sorry, but please be merciful to me. Forgive me, and transform my heart, for Jesus’ sake.”<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I left the church<\/strong> feeling like God had lifted a giant weight off my shoulders. I had begun a relationship with Jesus, who promised to give us eternal life and be with us through all the joys and hardships of our present lives. Buddy’s face looked more radiant than when he bagged a big buck during hunting \"\" season.<\/p>\n\n

“I feel like God lifted the world’s weight off my shoulders,” he said.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0We had met Jesus,<\/strong> and our lives would never be the same. The first person I told was Mom. She cried tears of joy. Then I found my brother, Rodney. We shared a new closeness as we hugged each other tight.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I wanted to find<\/strong> the men who traveled on a religious wagon and ride with them.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0As the months passed<\/strong>, our lives only got better. We learned new and exciting things every day. We had occasionally tried to read the Bible before but couldn’t understand what we read. \"AnNow, God has lifted a veil from our eyes that allows us to truly understand what we read.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Believers say<\/strong> we all have a vacuum inside of us that can only be filled by the Lord, and they were right. We’d finally found out what had been missing from our lives. The Lord took away all the emptiness, and we felt complete.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Whenever I discovered<\/strong> something new I liked, I was excited to tell everyone I knew about my latest find. My salvation was no different. I couldn’t wait to tell people about Jesus, especially my family. As the months flew by, my heart filled with joy as, one by one, my spunky sister Penny, my fun-loving sister Rena, and my brother Ronnie, the fighter with a black belt in karate, all accepted the Lord as their savior.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0My brother, Rodney<\/strong>, was always a quiet, shy kind of guy. He liked to stay in the background. I would tease him about not telling everyone that he had gotten saved. His favorite song was “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder, “I’LL Be There.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Then it was New Year’s Eve,<\/strong> which had always been a fun-loving night for Buddy and me, with drinks, country music, and midnight kisses at the corner bar. But God changed my heart, and I no longer wanted to go. Buddy felt the same way. It was not because we felt like we were Christians and knew that we shouldn’t be going to those places any longer, but we honestly didn’t want to go.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0God never promised<\/strong> that we wouldn’t have any problems but that when we did, He would be beside us to help us through.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0My brother, Rodney, found the girl of his dreams<\/strong>, Debbie, fell in love with her, and they got married.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Time passed<\/strong>, our little Kitten flourished, and I couldn’t believe that when she was almost two years old, I found out I was pregnant again. I received another surprise when Debbie announced that she was pregnant. We were both due within 3 weeks of each other.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I delivered our baby boy first<\/strong>; he entered the world with a healthy set of lungs and a scream. We named him Trevor.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Three weeks later,<\/strong> Debbie delivered a healthy little girl with a head full of natural red curls. She named her Rachel.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Our babies grew fast<\/strong>; before we knew it, two years had passed and they were old enough to enjoy the Holidays, along with their siblings & \"\"cousins.\u00a0 Thanksgiving went by and another Christmas was upon us.<\/p>\n\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Perfect timing,<\/strong> with Christmas only a few days away. Cookies, egg nog, fudge, searching for just the right tree to decorate, Christmas Carols\u2014our favorite time of year, but there’s no way we could have known what heartache lay ahead.<\/p>\n
